As I said in my MAC Lightscapade post, I have always been a fan of foundations (particularly ones on the higher end of the price scale) – but recently my obsession reached a dizzying height when I counted a monster 11 foundations on my collection, based on my estimations that a full bottle lasts around 4 months if you use it everyday – that means I have nearly have enough to last me through the next 4 years! Good God, I think it time for me to stop!

But before I did my little foundation audit, I indulged in another 2 foundations…..opps

The first one, is what I would deem a ‘necessary’ purchase. I love my Chanel Mat Lumiére, and have recently touted it as my all time favourite foundation – it gives the skin a nice medium, yet natural looking coverage and has great lasting power. But the colour 40 Beige had started to get a touch too dark for my skin, in fact I was starting to look a little silly when I wore it. So a repurchase in a lighter colour, was on the cards and when Megan Isobel contacted me to tell me she was selling a paler shade in her blog sale, I jumped at the chance to grab it! So I managed to get a bottle of the paler shade of 30 Cendre for around a tenner and I am now a very happy chappy.

The second purchase was probably less ‘necessary’, but if you follow me on Twitter you will know that last week I finally got round to meeting one of my favourite bloggers, Yu from Let’s MakeYuUp (she was an absolute babe), and we had a little wander around Selfridges. For some reason Selfridges always brings out the worst in me spending wise, I don’t go there often and there are loads of counters that I don’t have near me so I always feel the need to buy something expensive. And this visit was no different ;) I did only purchase one thing, and it was something that had been on my wishlist for a while – Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This is something that I always see mentioned as a ‘celebrity favourite’ and is one of those ‘your skin but better’ formulas. I was matched to the shade 6 and I have to say I have been loving it so far, but keep an eye out for an in-depth review soon :)

I’m exactly the same with eye shadows! Even though I have about 10 of the same colour, it doesn’t stop me going out and buying more! God help me when I get my MAC palettes, I’ll be bankrupt!

Oooh the Giorgio Armani one sounds lovely! Vivianna you always make me want to “invest” in expensive foundations. Haha. Here in Australia it’s the worst as we are charged such ridiculous prices!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Haha sorry hun!! But expensive foundations are always the best ;) Thanks for your lovely comment xx

I really want to try the Chanel Mat Lumier, I have such oily skin and drugstore foundations just aren’t cutting it, so think it’s time to try something more high end that might actually do the job. It’s 42euro in Malta which I think is about standard but definitely a payday treat!

Sounds like you love it though so I think it may just be worth it! xx

I really want to get into Chanel makeup! Have you tried anything besides the foundations/what do you like?

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

I have only tried their bronzer, the Chanel Bronze Universal thing and that is lush as well! xx

  • http://www.CostaChic.co.uk Martita at Costa Chic

Good foundation is such an individual thing and personally I don’t think that Silk Foundation is worth ALL the hype. Yes, it is a nice texture (high in silicones) but you have to have pretty good skin anyway and even though I feel comfortable with the coverage (which is quote low) I don’t think it makes my skin any better. At least that I would want to spend again £32…
I am very curious Chanel Mat Lumiere, wonder if is any different then MUFE Mat Velvet+…

    Martita xxx

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Oh no! Shame you don’t like the luminous silk. Not sure if MUFE Mat Velvet is the shame as Mat Lumiere, although from what I have heard the Mat Lumiere is slightly dewier xx

Oh shush you it was so necessary ;) Looking forward to the review!

      Haha ;) Naughty Yu xx

  • susannah_bonaldi

Hi Anna, I’m still undecided on my Mat Lumiere in 40 beige, I think it’s a tad too full on for my average day at my desk? I’m assuming you wear it daily(ish) – do you find its a bit heavy? or does that suit you? Suzie x x x

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Hey Suzie! Oh yes I wear it everyday lol! I don’t find it too heavy, and on a day to day basis as it’s such good coverage you only need the tiniest amount! xx

  • Andreaarevalogonzalez

Would you say Mat Lumiere is suitable for oily skin?

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Yes I would say so, if you search on my blog, I have done a more indepth review on it xx

  • http://www.curlsandthecity.com Amy

I had a sample of the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk last year, and I loved it! But I couldn’t justify to spend that much on foundation as I was still a foundation virgin at that time!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Aw it is so expensive!!! But it is a lovely foundation xx

  • Dani
