A Lipcote Party!

You ladies must be sick of me going on about my love for lipsticks by now – you all know that my Lipstick collection is held very dear to my heart. I always have a few jiggling around in the bottom of my handbag. I’ve said many times that my favourite formulations are MAC Cremesheens – moisturising and opaque with a slight glossy finish. Cremesheens tick all the right boxes, however they are not the most long-lasting of lipsticks and that is where my new little friend comes in…

I’m sure many of you have heard of this already, Lipcote has been the Number 1 lipstick sealant for the past 5 decades. That makes it 50 years old! It’s basically a clear liquid, which looks almost like a nail polish in the packaging, that you brush over your lipstick to give it serious staying power. It has recently been released in a tasty vanilla flavour! Yum! I have even heard through the grapevine that it is a favourite of Rhianna and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, that is me sold! If it’s good enough for Rosie HW’s pouty lips then it’s good enough for mine. So I decided to have a play around with all things ‘Lippy’ provided by the Lipcote Ladies, and decided to throw a mini party…
Look how cute the Gosh Patisserie ‘Lips’ Jammy Dodger Biscuit is! I’m planning on spending the evening messing around with lip colours and giving the Lipcote a true test – lets see if it stays on as I devour all the sweet goodies ;) I gave it a quick road-test today and it worked so well, my current lipstick favourite, MAC Peachstock, stayed on for a full 6 hours without touching up, and although the Lipcote makes the lips appear matte and satiny, it didn’t dry them out at all! The Lipcote way is simple – apply lipstick, blot, apply again and layer over a wash of Lipcote. Look out on Twitter as I will posting photos of my favourite Lipstick/Lipcote combinations all evening! Best of all Lipcote can be purchased at a fraction of the price of my favourite lipstick – it’s only £3.49 (RRP) and is readily available in Boots and Superdrugs nationwide. Well wasn’t that a ramble about all things lips related :) Are any of you Lipcote devotees? Ever given it a go?
Much Love,
Vivianna x

And this is why I don’t have any urge to buy MAC lippies! Max Factor’s new ones actually stay on for hours! This looks worth a try though, thanks for the post :)

Oh wow thanks for the recommendations xx

I’ve been a Lipcote devotee for a few years now. MAC’s Impassioned (and other brights) are never seen on my lips without it.. it’s really good for preventing that half-on-half-fading-off lip look and means I don’t have to walk around with a mirror permanently attached to my hand. Love Lipcote. Has the vanilla flavour been released yet? Cannot wait to try it!!

Oh yes, definitely keep an eye out for it xx

  • Mspurplemakeup

I had it for ages but not super convinced it’s the best. It does change a lot of lipstick finishes which is the annoying thing to me.

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Oh I quite like that it makes things matte – if I’m wearing a bright I like it to be quite matte xx

I love lipcote but always hated the taste of it so this is just perfect. It you find it changes the finish of lipsticks just apply your lipstick, apply lipcote and then apply lipstick over it so that the lipstick finish shows.

Yeah it does – it seems to intensify the colour xx

I have used Lipcote for years and I love it for nights out when you become slightly ..too merry to remember to (or be able to0) apply your lipstick again!  It lasts forever too - my one looks like it is 50 years old!
The only problem is the smell (recitified, mm vanilla) and getting your lipstick off! Makes your lipstick like a lipstain. They should make a remover too – like eylure lash glue remover.

Haha this comment made me laugh! And you’re right – they need to make a remover! xx

I have never tried this before but always remember my mum having a bottle in her make up bag, i didn’t realise it had been around for that long! x

I know 50 years!!!! Crazy xx

    I tried this when i was about 15 (6 years ago )
Of course i was never really careful with makeup the first thing i tried was a lipstick and this to keep it on (people love giving young girls little lipsticks and things to get you started!)
I really really remember flaking off?? like if you rub your lips together it like split and came off like glue?

Is it the same now? Or do you just need to be careful??

I swear by Lipcote, but there is a knack to applying it so it doesn’t dry & crack on your lips xoxo

I haven’t used lipcote since I was about 15 (gosh 10 years ago – makes me feel OLD), when I stole my Mums from her dressing table. It gave me frozen botox lips, which, granted, I may actually LIKE now. Would definitely want to give it a re-try though. Especially if they’ve finally made it smell nice! P.S laughed when I read the bit about having lipsticks floating around in the bottom of your bag. I cleared out my handbag and found 5! It was like shopping all over again!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Oh wow – 5 lipsticks in the bottom of the bag – haha! xx
