My foundation stocks have become worryingly high in recent times due that the fact that I can’t stop buying them – I seriously need to be supervised at all times – but there’s been one that despite all the noise has risen to the top of my pile. NARS Sheer Glow. It’s a foundation that I purchased way back when in my Uni days, loved it, finished it up and then completely forgot about it as Jemma Kidd Light As Air took over (now who remembers my obsession with that? +2 VDM reader points to you). I’m not quite sure what made me pick it up again during a perusal of Space NK, but whatever the urge was I’m glad it occurred because gawd is this stuff good.

Let’s start with the basics. Think Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk with a bit more dew, or CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua but with a bit more coverage – there sits NARS Sheer Glow. Like all my foundation favourites it vanishes into the skin to just create a really, really flawless looking complexion. It lasts well, the shade Deauville is a perfect match for me and it just looks natural, letting my natural sheen (read: sweat) peek through, while keeping the coverage in place.

It doesn’t come cheap and set me back £31 from Space NK, and the accompanying pump is £3 if you remember to pick it up (unlike me – doh!). But it’s a ‘little goes a long way’ formula and I’m always surprised by how the smallest smudge of the stuff can sort me out for everyday use when blended on with the Louise Young LY34 Brush. For a more covered finish, the Real Techniques Buffing Brush is your guy.

If you want to see it in action head to end of this ‘Weekly Vlog’ where I’m sporting it for the first time on the Saturday and I think there you see the best representation of what this formula has to offer; ‘my face but better’, natural glowy goodness. NARS Sheer Glow I promise never to forget you again.

This seems like an awesome product!!! great review~~

I’ve heard so many rave reviews about sheer glow. I considered going for the matte offering but since I’ve been embracing a more light weight, glowy base I may pick this one up x

  • shelynx

I’ve been quite disappointed with the matte formula and since I have combination skin with a very oily t-zone I never gave the sheer glow a chance, though I’ve always been curious. – Always interesting to read which favorites get a revival :-) Thank you

I’m a big fan of NARS sheer glow, although I have slightly oily skin and I find that I often need to touch up with powder throughout the day when wearing it.

i luv this product more than i luv anything else in my makeup stash. It is indeed one of the best foundations out there that despite of shouting glow sit perfectly and look amazing on an oily skin. whenever i try to break free from its clutches, I simply can’t because nothing comes close to this beauty..

I love this foundation so much I never stop going on about it but I find that I am in between colours which is such a pain to mix but worth it for the end result!

I’ve been thinking about trying this one. I love Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, so if this is similar with more coverage as you say – then perfect!! Will definitely try it.

Absolutely love this foundation, this post has also tempted to give the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation another go :)

I’m on what must be my 6th or 7th bottle of this, I always come back to it. Just mixed some with a bit of MAC strobe cream and no powder on top… LOVE!

  • Bella

My favourite actual foundation! I keep buying it despite the fact that I have to mix two colours, Stromboli and Syracuse, to get the right depth and undertone for me.
And yes, I remember the little mourning sesh we had when Jemma Kidd went bang LOL.

I keep meaning to try this because it looks awesome! :-)

How well does it hold up on your combination skin? I loved the finish of it when I first applied it, but it felt like it stimulated my oils even more which made its lasting power very, very poorly… xx

You have to pay extra for the pump? You’d think for 30 quid they’d be able to throw that in for free!

I’ve got to check this stuff out…I have been unsuccessful in finding the perfect foundation and the one I currently have, while I love the coverage it dries my face out terribly. I end up looking like a freak with chalk face…gah! I’m going to try this stuff right away. It sounds divine and perfect for my dilemma. Thank you so much for the review and sharing all your thoughts!

I bought the pump for this planning to get the foundation when I got shade matched but then when I eventually tried it in store I wasn’t so sure about the coverage so now I just have the pump! I’ve heard so many rave reviews about it though and some of my friends love it but I’m worried it only works on those with perfect skin in the first place Xx

It’s funny because Gossmakeupartist said there’s nothing sheer or glow-y about Nars Sheer Glow–I guess it’s one of those one has to try for themselves (excuse to purchase!). Also, that’s a particularly beautiful shot!

I really want to try Nars sheer glow but

I can’t get matched to a foundation shade as we can’t get hold of Nars products where I live. In Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua I am a mix between B10 and B20 (during spring) and in the summer I only use B20.

Do you think Deauville would be a good match for me? :)

I’m asking you because I know you like them both:)
