Double Photo Test

Is there a contender for the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray in town? Allow me to mull over this one.

When I first spotted the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish* on the shelves two things crossed my mind. Firstly the aforementioned question. Secondly – Bumble y’da take so long? Finally the rulers of the haircare roost when it comes to messy undone texture have entered into the volumising spray game. With instructions to spray on roots and ruffle for fullness, I’ve found a few spritzes gives instant oomph and lift to the crown and lengths alike. I’m impressed.

So how does it compare my much (much) loved Oribe Dry Texturising Spray? Well one point to consider is that price-per-ml-wise they work out about the same – I’ve done the math. But finish-wise the two are actually quite different. Whereas the Bumble gives a light, airy, almost fluffy finish; the Oribe is much more gritty and heavy in texture. Leading me to the conclusion that those with finer tresses will get on with the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish better and those with a thicker mop that needs something a little more heavy duty the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray will be more your cup of tea. Big locks for all hair types. Sorted.

I didn’t get on with the Oribe one, I think maybe it was slightly too heavy for my hair. I shall have to give the Bumble and Bumble one a go x

Fab – I’ve been looking at trying the B&B sea salt spray for a while (Instyle seem to love it!) but maybe I’ll see if this works better – I’ve got such fine hair it always goes flat despite layering up the mousse!

  • http://emmihearts.blogspot.co.uk/ Emily Allen

It’s interesting that they work out the same price in per ml, the b&b does sound better though, I don’t want my hair to feel heavy like I’ve put lots of product there xx Emmi

Thank you so much for this review, Anna!! I was really torn on which one to test out and your review sealed the deal with the Bumble and Bumble. My fine locks need something lighter. Can’t wait to try it out!

Ok, well noted. I’m buying the B&B dry spray when it comes out here!

  • murt

Thanks for this review – I’m definitely going to check out the B&B version.

  • Erin Jaine

I’m actually glad you’ve pointed out the price thing – a lot of bloggers have been saying buy Bumble because it’s cheaper but technically it’s not really!

Oh hows I love Bumble and Bumble if only we could get it here in Dubai xx

  • Radhika

I absolutely LOVE the Oribe spray, but it does get a bit heavy on the crown for me sometimes. My salon is a B&B one, and I’ve seen this there but was always hesitant to get it. You’ve convinced me to try it out next time I get a cut! Thanks Anna!
