I’m currently writing this post stuffed into a seat on a train along with all my luggage – scarfs, muddy wellies and wooly clothing galore packed in – on my way back to the big smoke after a quick jaunt to the countryside. I walked, swam and bodyboarded (in the English channel – yes I’m a nutter) my way round Devon but now it’s time for me to retire my dirty boots and spend my evening scrubbing myself back into an appeasing state. Of course with any trip, no matter how low-key it may be one of my favourite activities is packing my makeup, so here’s what I hauled along with me.

Base-wise I thought I’d test out my new purchase of By Terry’s Sheer Expert in 5. This stuff does exactly what is says on the tin – provides the skin with a light veil of coverage, evening out the skintone and adding a touch of glow. Perfect for ‘no makeup, makeup’ days. A bit of By Terry’s Touche Veloutée in 3 under the eyes and across the cheekbones for a sheen and a dash of Hourglass Illume Cream to Powder Duo in Bronze Light – the illuminator side – over the top points of the face, finish off the base. I threw in the Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium incase I fancied a pop of colour on the lips or cheeks, but didn’t end up reaching for it. I kept the brows simple, just giving them a groom with a spoolie and my mascara of choice for the holiday was my other new purchase, Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara. I love how easy it is to get off, but it just doesn’t hold a curl as much as my other favourites. Dayum! For lips I applied the By Terry Baume de Rose and Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream religiously, but for evenings out the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 2 added a nude tint and a little somethin’ somethin’.

So in due course I will be reunited with my stash, and after favouring the natural look all week I think it might be tome to crack out something a little more daring, and yes it’s a coincidence that it’s Halloween tonight…

I adore Devon, such a great place. Glad you had fun.
BTSE sounds great, I prefer going minimal this time of year unless I’m going out.

It is – I find the bronzer side a little dark for this time of year, but you just can’t beat the highlighter :)
