‘English rose’ isn’t probably a term that would be banded about to describe my look. My natural skintone yes, you just have to look at my beautifully pale sister to see that, but my Xen-Tanned up to the max face and body most definitely not. But I stripped back the fake tan (a little) all in the name of trends to give a nod to the naturally flushed, outdoorsy look as seen on the runways of Paul Smith and Michael Kors…
Five products is it all it took here, the key is simplicity and thin layers of creamy, light-reflecting textures. I went for the lightest and palest base I have which is the Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturiser in Butter. It’s not my favourite base as I find it a little too moisturising for my combination skintype but it leaves a dewy and natural finish on the skin. I applied a touch of By Terry Touche Veloutee Concealer in 3 under my eyes and over the tops of my cheekbones. I bloomin’ love this stuff, and I think I’m getting close to running out (panic), a repurchase is certainly on the cards. For eyes I kept it simple with lashings of the L’Oréal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara and a touch of the Anastasia Brow Gel in Espresso through the brows. The game changer here is the blush – Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera. I own a fair few cream blushes and I wish I wore them more often; whenever I wear them I curse myself for not being bothered to throw them on daily. This shade is a beaut, a nice combo of peachy-pink (quelle surprise), it blends in gorgeously and leaves a pretty flushed sheen to the cheeks. It’s so creamy in fact, I blotted a little into my lips as well. Pretty and multi-functional? Fab.
Now I probably need to scrub of the faux tanner a little more to fully go the whole hog here, but this is a trend I’d happily recreate each morning – girlie, blushed, flushed but still nice and natural. A wearable trend – hurrah! Keep an eye out for the next ‘The Trend’ post as I think I may have found the perfect everyday bright lip in keeping with this season’s hottest colour, oh yes it’s a good ‘un if I say so myself.
P.S) You like the cheesy picture? It seemed like such a good idea at the time – DOH!
