My nails just can’t seem to make up their mind this Summer. They’ve gone from ‘in yer face’ orange to barely-there beige, ice cream hues of mint to hints of pink – but now I’m back on the bright bandwagon with my newest Essie purchase, Tart Deco, which I spoke about in my last ‘The Weekend Post’ (see here)…

Now be prepared people cause to me this applies much brighter than it looks in the bottle. An almost neon peachy pink – and we all know how much I love my peachy pinks, yes? This was in no way a ‘must purchase’ shade for me, in fact if I hadn’t seen it looking pretty on many a beauty bloggers fingertips then I most certainly wouldn’t have it on my nails today, but you know what I actually really like it. Perhaps even more so as a pedicure colour, in fact right now I have a case of ‘new shoe’ syndrome. One of the best things about this colour is how well it applies – one thick layer probably could have done it, but I went for two to be in the safe side and the diffusion line brushes make it a very smooth application. I painted them on Sunday and four days later they’re not looking bad at all. Baring in mind I did apply a base and top coat there’s just some minor tip-wear occuring and I’m alright with that.

I know people will wonder what it’s like compared to Essie Cute as a Button, which is one that I’ve owned for ages but never used – slaps wrist. I’ll throw it on and report back but I have a hunch that Tart Deco is much peachier and Cute as a Button more pinkier. Has anyone else tried Tart Deco? The good news about this shade is that for once it’s a colour that’s available in the diffusion line so can be picked up from Boots or Superdrug for £7.99. Hooray!

I bought this the other day and it’s a gorgeous shade. I like that it’s more of a creamy coral shade rather than a bright orange.

I had Tart Deco on my nails last week and I have Cute as a Button on my toes at the moment. I find Cute as a Button is pinker and Tart Deco is more Orange.

It looks gorgeous and I think you might be right with your comparison to Cute As A Button though, I have that but not Tart Deco but I’d say that Cute As A Button definitely looks more of a pinky coral as opposed to orangey peach! Love it!

I’ve had this shade for ages and it always takes someone else wearing it for me to dig it out. Definitely think it’s better suited for darker skin.

I love it!   I’ve been using it on my toes and it gives me that holiday feeling, something the weather is definitely not.

I think I am alone in hating the wider brush though.   I find I get too much product on the brush.

I didn’t really like the look of this all that much when I seen it in Boots but I’ve seen it on people’s nails and it looks gorgeous!

I love the colour of ‘cute as a button’ but it goes on so thin and streaky :( i’ll def be picking up ‘tarte deco’ :)

  • Aire

Is it similar to Haute as Hello? :)

I have cute as a button on my nails right now, I think it’s more red/pink toned than Tart Deco, and maybe a little darker.

Love Tart Deco! The colour looks great on you.
This is completely off-topic – I hope you don’t mind – but I was wondering whether you have any recommendations for French skincare/beauty products? I’m going to France in a couple of weeks so am making a list! I won’t be in a big town, so am thinking of things available in standard pharmacies… If you have any tips for things I should check out I’d really love to hear them!

Tart Deco is my favourite shade out of the two that I have haha. But no, it’s such a cool colour, so much brighter than you think. I love it, suits you with a bit of a tan too.

I love Cute As A Button (I did a review of it here:
http://smallestsarah.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/essie-nail-varnish-in-cute-as-button.html) Tart Deco looks lovely though, so I think that might be my next Essie purchase. It’s a little on the steep side for nail varnish, but it wears really well so I don’t mind too much :)
