I still remember the first time I fake tanned. I think I was about 12 and had somehow managed to get sneak a bottle of the stuff into my Mum’s weekly shop. I was forbidden to apply it inside so I stood out in the garden in my undies, sprayed it on and unsure whether to rub it in, I left it as it was spritzed out the bottle. Cue me having to do P.E with big orange splodges over my legs for the next week. I’ve come along way since (I now tan inside – whoop!) and through the years have had a few faux glow triumphs with many, many fails. So I thought it was time for a fake tanning 101; what to use, how to use it and my tips and tricks I’ve picked up in my 12 years of tanning. Leave your fears of looking tangoed at the door.

can never trust fake tan, I prefer a moisturiser that gradually gets darker :)

I use Clarins addition concentré eclat now, you can mix two or three drops from it with your moisturizer or bodylotion. Very easy to use and you can build op the color how you want it.
A 101 about foundations and skincair would be very interesting!

I love the L’Oreal Sublime Elixir so much! I find it looks natural (not orange at all) and people ask if I’ve been on holiday. Though I definitely prefer to only apply one layer all over (maybe 2 layers on legs) and absolutely no more than that, as it could get very dark!

If you’re from Australia or can find a way to ship it to you, you have to try Bondi Sands. It is honestly the best fake tan I’ve ever tried and the gradual tanner is also amazing! Everyone in Australia is raving about it and I haven’t met a person who tried and it was disappointed!

    I would love a haircare 101 post!

Thank you for this! :-) you’re one of the best, most down to earth and bubbliest bloggers out there! xxx

I did just they same – 12, in the garden, in my undies, throwing on orange stuff.

I love having a bit of glow in the summer, in the winter I don’t care.

So funny – I just wrote about self-tanners on my blog! My go to choice is St. Tropez. Mousse reigns supreme for the self-tanner newbies. Here’s my tutorial:

I like the tip about applying the sunscreen to the places to normally get caught by the sun! However, how do you do that? Do you only put tanning on those places end blend it out carefully towards the edges, or do actually apply the tanning all over your body/face but paying special attention to those places? What works best? :)
