So I’m a little late to the whole ‘Liz Earle now do colour makeup’ party, but hey I’ve arrived! Last year Liz Earle released their first foray into the makeup world with their Sheer Skin Tint (review of that here) which I was rather fond of and few months ago they expanded their line to include colour products including blushes, concealers, powders, eyeshadows, lipglosses, mascaras – the whole lot. I gave their Lash Care Intensifying Mascara Base* and Lash Definition Smudge Proof Mascara* a go a while back I have to say I wasn’t too impressed, but I’ve been testing out their Natural Glow Bronzer* and Healthy Glow Powder Blush in Nectar* and they’re more to makeup tastes…
Liz Earle have started off small, you certainly aren’t going to be overwhelmed with choice here. But the shades are subtle (always a plus for me), the formulas natural and sheer and there is just enough products to wet your beauty whistle. Out of the two cheek products I’ve tried the Natural Glow Bronzer is my personal fave. I’m a sucker for a good bronzer and this fits the bill – not too orange, nice and ‘glowy’ (you know what I mean, yeah?) and it adds dimension to the face without being too OTT. Compared to my other bronzer offerings this is definitely on the less pigmented side of things, but that means it will make the perfect winter bronzer for me. And that combined with it’s lack of shimmer means that it even works as a contour. The Healthy Glow Powder Blush in Nectar not only has an enticing name but does exactly what it’s say’s on the tin. In shade terms it’s very similar to the bright pink with a hint of a peach tone Tarte Amazonian Clay 12hr Blush in Blissful that I already own and adds a hint of an outdoorsy flush to the cheeks. It’s pretty darn pigmented, long-lasting and blends nicely. However, this is the same story for a load of blushes already in my stash so it’s nothing too groundbreaking for me. Pretty, but not a necessity. If you want to see what these products look like on my cheekies check out yesterday’s post.
The Natural Glow Bronzer will set you back £19.50 Healthy Glow Powder Blush £16.50, available from counters in John Lewis and at Liz Earle online. Not too badly priced, but for those amounts I would be tempted to pick up my all time favourite bronzers and blushes – NARS Laguna and any shade of the Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour, which retail for a similar amount. But like I said the Natural Glow Bronzer is a great choice for a more toned down, subtle bronzer, especially for the paler skinned ladies out there. Could I be traipsing down to the Liz Earle counter to pick it up as many times as I have been there to repurchase their Cleanse & Polish? Crazier things have happened…
