I know that for most (myself included), time is a little constricted in the mornings. As a massive lover of sleep – I have been known to say that it is my favourite thing in the world to do ;) I would rather have those extra precious 10 minutes in bed. This obviously conflicts for my love of preening and pampering, so I have devised a quick 5 minute face that gives me a ‘naturally-enhanced’ look shall we say, but can easily be done in Superwoman-like time.

First of all I cleanse and tone my face, you know the drill here – the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser and Instant Boost Skin Tonic, boom! Then I devise my own little moisturiser/foundation hybrid, equal amounts of smaller-than-pea-size blobs of the Origins Vitazing Moisturiser and the Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation (there is a full review of that here), warmed up in the palms and then applied to the face with my hands. This gives a really nice, pretty medium coverage finish to the skin with a slight glow to it as well. Then I conceal my baggy eyes with my trusty Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, this stuff works miracles, seriously! Again, I stuff using a brush and just apply with my fingers – we only have 5 minutes here people! A light dusting of my go-to setting powder, MAC’s Mineralise Skinfinish natural with a kabuki and I’m already half-way there.

When it comes to cheeks, I will admit I have been getting lazy. I grab my MAC 109 Brush, roll it in the matte dark brown powder side of the Sleek Contour Kit, blend it under the cheeks and I have something on my face that slightly resembles cheekbones. Again, I grab the same brush, dust it in the AAAMAZING Dior Amber Diamond Highlighting Powder and pop this on the top of the cheeks. Cheeks done!
At this stage, I probably could walk out the door, as I’m all about ‘the base’ when it comes to makeup, but there is one final step – lashes! Out come the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers (best in the biz – trust), to give my lashes a bit of a lift. A quick coat of the waterproof version of L’oreal Telescopic mascara (waterproof formulations keep a curl better don’t you know) and then I’m ready!
I’m sure you would have realised that I’ve skipped a lip product. In a dreamworld I would preferably like about 10 minutes to consider my lip product choice of the day, however what happens in reality is I grab the first lippie that catches my eye as I rush out the door. The commuting population then have the joy of  watching me applying this wonkily on the train. Over the past weeks, MAC’s Myth (pictured), Shy Girl and Please Me have been ‘grabbed’ a lot, along with Topshop’s Coy Lip Pencil and YSL’s Pure Shine in 148 Tea Rose. All pretty neutral colours, but ones that you can reapply really easily. As you can tell, lipstick is where I tend to experiment (a little), but the base of the makeup pretty much stays the same.
Ok, ok so by the time I’ve piled this on, more like 8 minutes have passed, but still it’s under 10 minutes and that is surely impressive ;) In total, only 8 makeup products, 2 brushes and an eyelash curler have been used – not bad!

When I am in a rush, I just smack on a tinted moisturiser, concealer and mascara. and it still takes me about 15 minutes efore I am happy with it. But I have been really lazy with makeup recently, and have faced the world bare faced for a while now! Great post! :) x

Loved this post =) I use my msfn for some light coverage, a blush, some gel eyeliner, mascara, and a quick lipstick like mac’s hue.

Thanks hun! Great picks there – I love the MSFN & MAC Hue too! xx

Thanks hun! Oh yes, I have faced the world bare-faced too! Sometimes you just gotta do it ;) xx

  • makeupmuchlove

im the opposite in my opinion its all about the eyes i think if you have the perfect eye you dont really need to bother much about the base, love your combination though! really quick and easy!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Thanks chick! I wish I had more time to do my eyes, but I’m still a bit of a novice when it comes to eye makeup so I only reserve it for times when I’m not rushed lol xx

  • http://www.tashamakesup.blogspot.com Tasha Makes Up

have to have foundation, blush, curled lashes and mascara! Although I’m happy to get up earlier to do my face : )

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Haha you obviously don’t like sleep as much as I do! Totally agree about curled lashes though – makes such a difference! xx

  • http://twelve52.blogspot.com/ Twelve52

I really need to try the Origins VitaZing, everyone seems to rave about it! My five minute face is pretty similar to this but without the lippy, I tend to use a sinple balm if I’m on a hurry.

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

It’s amazing – such a great all-round product, and wicked in the summer! Oh yes, how could I forget a balm? I love balms too – blistex do the best ones :) xx

  • clairabelle0306

When I dont have that much time I just apply my Skin 79 BB Cream and a bit of Benefit Erase Paste, and then I finish with my MSF and I’m done.

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Fab combination, I need to try out that BB cream – everyone is raving about it! xx

I have a similar routine I do while driving to work in the mornings (shhh don’t tell my parents)! If you hit the stoplights right, there’s ample time for makeup application :D

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Haha oh don’t worry I won’t tell anyone ;) As long as your only applying it when the car is stationary love! xx

Bare minerals definitely, less stress about tide marks etc. I just buff it in like a mad woman and grab something blush like for over the top (usually using the same oversized brush…oops) and a mascara. DONE. xx

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

I love how you put DONE! Me and my sister say it after everything! Great combination though! xx

Literally all I did for work last night was rub some foundation in with my hands and through on some mascara – think that’s the first time i’ve ever been in without a full face of makeup!

Usually it’s just Lancome Teint Miracle, MAC studio select, Topshop Head Over Heels Blush, Collection 2000 False Lash Mascara and a sweep of a paint pot on my lazy days!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

I bet that looked lovely hun! All you really need is that isn’t it! Great picks as well, another lover of Topshop Head Over Heels Cream Blush :) Great colour xx

I’m always tempted whenever I read you blog – definately not good for the spending ban! & I tend to pop on some bb cream, benetint & mascara when I’m in a really big rush but I normally manage to squeeze in enough time to do my make up properly!! x

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Oh god I love both those products – they are fab! Both things that I reach for everyday really :) Sorry I am such an enabler ;) xx

Chanel Mat Lumiere is my go-to foundation lately, and I am glad to see my newly acquired Amber Diamond on here as well!  I cannot wait to get home and try it.

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Ohhh how exciting! You will love it – it’s such a lovely product :) xx

  • Kimberley Kemp

I really want to try Chanel Mat Lumiere and the Bobbi Brown concealer. Maybe I should take the plunge! I love that you can be ready in under 10 minutes, I probably could if I didn’t faff around so much haha, I take forever to get ready. I’ve narrowed it down to about 20 minutes on a good day. I should try to narrow it down more. I’m all in favour for more sleep :D xx

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Haha oh yes another sleep lover!!! The Chanel foundation and the concealer are both great, I’ve popped up a review of the foundation if you want to see it in more depth :) 20 minutes is good though, that’s how long I take on a normal day too xx

  • http://www.stealmyheartlovee.com StealMyHeartLovee

Great post and I love all the items you use! I want to try out the Bobbi Brown concealer.

When I’m in a rush I can do my makeup in 10 minutes. I usually dislike being in a rush, because I don’t have time to do my eye makeup. lol!

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Aw thanks hun – pleased you like it! Oh yes, I hate being in a rush too – but sleep is just so good ;) xx

What is so good about the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers compared to all the others? Because I swear they all just do that same thing?! Haha! And does MAC’s Myth come out as a nude? I’m in need of a good nude lipstick!! xo

How come my site doesn’t come up? Haha, so confusing. http://jonesyxoxo.blogspot.com/ What is so good about the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers compared to all the others?          Thanks for leaving your site hun xx

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

You know what – I can’t quite put my fingers on why, they just are lol! They seem to fit my eye really well and I can get such a good almost fake looking curl out of them which I never found with my cheaper ones. My best mate really struggles with her eyelashes as they are quite short, she tried my Shu Uemura ones and brought them right away!  And yes Myth is VERY nude, it’s the nudest of all nudes – really nice though :) xx

      • Anonymous

Oh wicked, I will definitely be putting that on the almighty shopping list cause i need a good nude… foundation on the lips is not the best idea! Haha. Bought myself some eye curlers today while I was in town, and they actually work!! So good, and they do almost look fake!! xo

        • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Oh fab! Pleased you found some eyelash curlers that have worked for you :) xx

  • http://makeupownsmyheart.blogspot.com/ Roxanne

    • http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com/ Vivianna

Haha that happens all the time for me too! 30 mins goes quickly when you are applying your slap ;) xx

  • Maham

I would never be able to do my makeup in 5 mins. It literally takes me 5 mins to do my foundation and concealer.

  • http://twitter.com/abbeautycall Amy Bromberg

Great post!  I have heard great things about Liz Earle from Lisa Eldridge.  Now I want to get both of these products.  so many times i am rushing and I have not yet mastered doing a 5 min makeup.  i have a bunch of “go to products” lol.  bobbi brown corrector, then either of the two concealers i’m using (clinique airbrush or YSL touche), tarte HD clay amazonian bronzer, one of my many blushes, either laura geller balance n brighten or jouer cosmetics luminizing moisture tint.  everyday luv wearing laura geller ethereal spackle.  and i always have a bunch of lip products in my purse and if I forget mascara i have one in my bag too

  • http://twitter.com/MsSarahJack SJ

This is fantastic, I love the idea of mixing foundation with face cream to quicken time! Definitely going to be giving this ago! xx
