MAC. Eyeshadow. Palette. Three words that can cue boyband-esque hysteria in the hearts of beauty lovers. I flit in and out of love with MAC but you just can’t argue against the fact that their eyeshadow (and lipstick) offerings rule. Available in more colours than you can shake a stick at, in more finishes than you can shake a stick at and able to be purchased single pan-stylée and built into a personalised palette – yup, I can see the appeal. Now I showcased my MAC shadow stash back in the day, but it’s since been narrowed down into one handy quad and I love every damn shade. Now that doesn’t mean I’ve been tempted to reinvest – Lily tries to bully me into buying Club every time we enter a MAC – but I’ve resisted so far and stuck to my trusty fab four:
All That Glitters – the obvious favourite, would you just look at that dent? The best eyeshadow in the history of eyeshadows *cue dramatic music*. Peachy, golden and with just the right amount of shimmer, it never fails to amaze in one quick sweep. I wear it with a shedload of mascara. DONE.
Espresso – a mid-toned brown that works as one of those ‘do-it-all’ shades. Filling in brows? Check. Deepening the crease? Check. Can be striped on as a liner? Check. Taken all over the lid? Check. I find the combo of this in the crease, with A.T.G over the lid a particularly aesthetically pleasing duo.
Soba – why is there not more love for this shadow? I’d say this comes just behind A.T.G in the running for favourite eyeshadow ever. It doesn’t look much in the pan, but on the lids it blends out to a golden tan shade that works subtly washed all over or packed on with a brush for a smokier look. It has a bit of a coppery kick to it too, so green eyed gals take note.
Smut – for eyeshadow noobs who are terrified of black shadows, this one’s for you. A purple-toned, mucky shade - I guess it’s a darkened grey – that works nicely to add a bit of definition in the crease or on the lash line. Another one that deserves a bit more recognition in the beauty world.
Small, but perfectly formed. Though of course if would rude not to ask if there’s any additions you think I need? And Lily, don’t you be piping up with Club, again…
