Firstly I must preface this post by saying that I actually wore the results of this ‘The Trend’ post outside, in front of people. I gobbled down a burger, slurped on a milkshake, chattered away for hours and this lipstick didn’t go anywhere. One sneaky reapplication in the loo’s of GBK is all that was needed and I was one happy bunny. Surely that deems this a fully wearable trend, right? Touches of orange were splashed across the runways of AW12 shows – cheeks, eyes, lips – you name it. But I thought I’d ease myself in with a simple orange lip…
There was one lipstick that I just couldn’t get out of my head once I’d pencilled in this post – MAC Morange. It’s always enthused about as the perfect orange toned red. Red enough to not be considered a too crazy a colour choice but orange enough to lift to complexion and give a subtle nod to the ‘in’ shade. Ridiculously flattering on all skintones, I can see why so many rave about this colour. The formula itself, a MAC ‘Amplified’, it goes on super opaque, very creamy with an almost matte finish and hell it sticks around forever. I paired it with a dewy base, big brows, a touch of mascara and no blush or bronzer – simplicity with a focus on the lips is where it’s at.
So could I be a convert to bold lips? I’m not getting too ahead of myself here but I rather enjoyed my forray into orange lipstick and perhaps I have a few more vampy colours up my sleeve. Did someone say berry tones are making a comeback?
