Ever since I graduated my friends have sprinkled themselves all over the country, meaning that at weekends I often find myself clambering back onto trains and spending a not-so-glamourous night in a spare room, or worst still – the floor! I’ve become quite a pro at packing for these occasions so I thought I would share what I took to London with me this weekend for my friends housewarming party.

This was a ‘party late, early exit’ kinda trip, so in terms of overnight essentials I threw in a toothbrush, toothpaste and my rollerball version of Lady Million by Paco Rabbane. Then for once the party had winded down I brought a mini bottle of Bioderma H2O Crealine Solution to take my makeup off and then the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum to throw on after. As a bit of an emergency product, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir comes in handy for spots, toning and nausea so that came with! In the morning I gave my face another swipe with the Bioderma and then applied a healthy layer of the Origins Vitazing moisturiser, I’m really getting back into that stuff at the moment. For makeup I kept it really simple; the Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation in 03 with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, for some amazing coverage I packed the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 3, for cheeks I had the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush with NARS Laguna Bronzer and Laura Mercier Second Skin Blush in Lush Nectarine. My eyelash extensions are still going strong four weeks on, so I just combed them through with an eyebrow comb, and for my lips I bought the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 02 as it gives a nice peachy lip but doubles up as a lipbalm too.

See for a beauty addict like myself I don’t think that is too bad! Plus, I’m pleased to report that I used everything, which is always a sign that you packed effectively! What essentials do you pack in your overnight bags?

An excellent selection ;) I love seeing posts like this as I’m always travelling around to see family & the BF and have such a hard time choosing what to pack! :)

Also, a quick plea for you to review your origins night-a-mins if you still use it since your last skincare video. I’m uhm-ing and ahh-ing over the oil free one and just can’t decide! xo

This is great selection of products,  I tend to pack too much when I’m out and about and end up with loads of stuff I have no use for!

For a beauty addict, it does show restraint. But I think you could probably have gone even more minimal. Eg taking one really good skin product that does it all, like the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. For the “morning after”s it really works as an all-around product, plus it’s a great primer!

I’m so self conscious about my acne that when i stay over at a friend’s I don’t take my makeup off (just eyes and lips). eek. But then, we don’t usually sleep for more than two hours so it’s the equivalent of a train nap, right?  :/

  • fashionbyalice

I take makeup wipes (beauty no no, i know!) and an eye make up remover and a moisturiser… if im walking home from a friends or getting a lift, sometimes I don’t bother with makeup eek! However alot of the time I just take a foundation and a mascara and a lipbalm haha xx

Love this :) wish there was more rollerball perfumes available in the UK it looks so much more handy! xxx

I am a nightmare when it comes to packing however I have become a pro decanter and have started doing this when just staying overnight etc which means no ‘losing’ products which cost a fortune etc x

A perfect selection! I wish I could pack as lightly as this! I often Over pack and then have no need for half of the things I brought. eek!

i’ve been uming and ahing over the Caudalie Beauty Elixir since you first mentioned it and i’m still not sure! i was just wondering, i have quite oily skin so wondered whether it would just make my face look a bit too dewy? would be great if you could let me know if you think it would be too much!  cannot get enough of your blog/videos, they are wonderful!xx

clinique moisture surge is a must in my travel bag! It’s amazing as a moisture mask at night and before putting on make up, its so versatile! Also, I have Jemma Kidd light as air, absolutely love it! Next on my Jemma Kidd hit list is the dewy glow! And on a final note, if you rave about Caudalie Beauty Elixir anymore i’m going to have to get it! First Lisa Eldridge, then Fluerdeforce and now you! noooo stop hurting my bank account!

Ahhh what a lovely selection of things! Im always in such a hurry when I pack to go to friends and the majority of times all I whack in my bag is undies, toothbrush and face wipes! Im terribly un-pro unlike yourself hehe

  • Marta

What I pack in my overnight bag? I tend to have mini sizes of face washes and make-up removers. Last time I brought along a small size of one of Dermalogica’s face washes and mini Lacome eye make-up remover. I also bring a moisturiser. Currently I’m using Khiel’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15. Toothbrush is always a must. I also take mascara and Estee Lauder tinted moisturiser as I can’t really be bothered to put on foundation on those days. Great post x

    Hey!
Just wanted to say I reallyyyyyy enjoy your blog and youtube videos, although you are the reason for me making so many purchases lately aha! :-)
Just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t know already, the website ‘cheapsmells’ has the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector on there for £12.50 so it’s a little bit cheaper than it normally would be! Lots of love,
    Beth xx.

Bare minimum: toothbrush and toothpaste, sunscreen, makeup remover, concealer. Sometimes mascara if I have to look presentable in the morning.
