I’m a little miss fusspot when it comes to drugstore makeup. As it’s not too pricey and can be picked up casually when purchasing a chocolate bar (or two), I end up making impulsive decisions, research them less than my non-purse friendly buys and more often than not I’m disappointed with what I got. However there are a few things that slip through that net – L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara, Collection 2000 concealers and Blistex lipbalms to name just a few and I’m happy to report that there are a flurry of new offerings from the Rimmel AW12 Collection that will be joining this elite club of everyday highstreet picks…
To sum it up, Rimmel are hitting it hard with a shedload of new products due to hit displays in the next month. For a great overview check out Lily’s post, but I thought I’d just run you through the bits that I’ve been loving trying out. The Kate Moss lipsticks are something that I’ve never given go myself but always heard ravings about, so it’s no surprise that Rimmel are releasing five new shades as part of the Kate Matte Lipstick Collection*. I’ve slicked then on and I have to say they’re long-lasting, pretty creamy and not too drying on the lips. Quite surprisingly I’m more fond of the reddy tones in the collection and my favourite from the bunch is the vampy, burgundy hued #107 (second from left) – expect to see it popping up in a post soon. Now the release that made my ears really prick up are the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liners*. Drugstore liners, even liners in general aren’t usually something I’d get excited about, but when a flesh-toned and a grey tinged neutral shade are in the line-up now we’re talking. Nude liners are a God send for tired eyes in the morning, and the Rimmel offering in Nude does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not exactly waterproof but it lasts a good four to five hours, is super creamy and the perfect shade for brightening up the eye line. The grey toned shade Taupe is great for people who don’t like anything too dark around the eye area but sometimes need a little definition. These liners start off as being pretty blendable then dry down after a minute or two and don’t budge. So I’ve been throwing this on under my waterline and then smudging it over my lids for a subtle daytime look.
Both the Kate Moss Matte Lipstick collection and Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liners will be released onto stands on 3rd October and priced at £5.49 for the lippies and £3.99 for the liners. My top pick would have to be the Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in the shade Nude – for people who’ve been wanting a dupe of the hard to find MAC Chromographic Pencil I’m always going on about here it is! I may even prefer it to the MAC one…
