I don’t like to shock too much; hence while this top is yellow, it’s also purchased from Whistles. Phew, I know – I had you panicking for a minute there. It’s been a long time since this sunny hue made an appearance in my wardrobe. I think the last time I sported such a shade was when I was in my ‘wanting to be the sixth member of Steps’ phase and owned an acid yellow handkerchief style crop top. So yes, it’s been a while. But while perusing the Whistles section of ASOS – an activity I do approximately three times a day – I stumbled across the Lori Sheer Panel Top and in a moment of madness clicked purchase. A pastel yellow tee with sheer cutaways might seem like an out of comfort zone purchase for me but surprisingly I’ve found myself tugging it off its hanger a fair amount, despite having to currently wear four layers over it for warmth.

As with all Whistles garments the cut is flattering, piece well-made, fabric high quality and the sheerness is nothing to fear – a nude bandeau does the job. I’m dubbing this the top to see me into Spring. Now I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t secretly crossing my fingers that they do a version in black…

Lovely spring colour! I find that all my tops are black or white too so it is really nice to have that pop of colour occasionally! Although definitely want it in black – haha! X

Nearly $200AUD (or around 100 pounds) for a top?! The average person on a reasonable wage cannot afford that and i’m surprised you featured it in your blog for that reason. I thought perhaps you’d feature something more realistic price-wise, but this is just completely unrealistic for an average person on a reasonable income. I don’t know how much you make out of your blogging career but i daresay that you’re sitting pretty and that reflects in this blog post. In the end, I feel like you’re creating distance between yourself the readers. You’re not being as relatable and accessible as you used to be. As an avid reader of this blog, I am disappointed.

Love the top, love the colour, do not love the price :-( If only this had been a 100% silk, then I could be swayed…

I love the panels, they’ve managed to make them look classy but still really cool, beautiful! x

Loving the pastels around this session x

  • Amber Hunter

This top is insanely gorgeous! It looks expensive–in a good way haha. And that yellow color will definitely transition beautifully into Spring.

  • Fiona Bradley

You have such good taste! It’s not many people who can pull off a pastel yellow top without looking like a sickly bath bomb. I’m still reeling after your grey Whistles sweater!! Have a cool “Acne” one from Sheinside.com on its way to me at the moment though so can’t complain :)

  • Meg Bolderson

I love pastel yellow! It’s so subtle but adds such a lovely feel to the outfit, and not to mention so easy to wear!x

Haha I love your honesty that you’ll be buying the black! This is a nice little pastel shade and the cut Whistles do is lovely. The pattern is quite unique as well.

    Thanks for the post.x

  • Cassie

I love the sheer panels, they make the shirt so interesting.

What a beautiful, versatile top! Great pick! xo

  • Lily

Wow you are desperately angling for a Whistles sponsorship or something!

    • Jane Lam

      That’s how she gets paid.

      • Lily

I know that but it’s embarrassing to be campaigning a brand so desperately. Plus, it’s not even a beauty brand so it seems she’s turning into one of those greedy bloggers that want EVERYTHING given to them for free whether it relates to their blog or not. Just doesn’t look good.

        • Jane Lam

I’m not defending her, she’s obviously desperate for sponsorship because it’s easier than working.

  • http://www.hanguptheglamour.com/ Katie

I really love the style of this top, love the sheer cut out detail.

I love this pop of colour! It’s not too crazy at all, just really fresh :)

  • Just Saying

Posts like these are becoming more frequent and they’re like boring “filler” plus that top is so underwhelming, especially at that price! Seems you’re running out of steam on this blog and that’s a shame. Or is that other comment right? Are these constant Whistles post simply so you can get free stuff from them?

  • Madeleine S-B

Love this! It looks very chic and modern (: think it’d look fab in a lime green, too!

  • http://www.charlsramblings.blogspot.co.uk/ Charlotte
