It’s very easy to ramble on about new products that we’ve tried, tested and loved. But what about those old fav’s that we rely on everyday – they deserve a mention too! It dawned on me the other day that I have never done a full-blown post dedicated to what is probably the only constant in my makeup bag. I have repurchased it around 4 times now and dutifully apply it every morning; if you look in the info bar of any of my videos you will 100% see ‘L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara’ scrawled down. I’ve breifly spoken about it many a time, but after having a good lash day today, it was time to take a snap and enter full-on raving mode….

Now as a general rule I’m a big fan of waterproof mascaras. They hold a curl a million times better than their non-waterproof counterparts and are much less likely to leave you with a panda-eye effect. Naturally my eyelashes point down to the floor, kind of like an elephant – I would function very well in a sandy desert. So I look for mascaras that hold my lashes up, lenghten and add a touch of volume. The L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof ticks all the boxes. I curl my lashes with my Shu Uemura eyelash curler in the morning, apply 2 coats of the mascara and my lashes look nice and fluttery all day. For a longevity reference check out the photo above after about 12 hours of wear. It’s a plastic brush which isn’t to everyones taste, but I find that it gives a nice balance of seperation and volume. Price-wise it usually retails at around the £13ish mark, but you can sometimes get it on offer; also note that doesn’t dry out and one tube lasts me around 6 months. One thing that people always ask me is how to remove this mascara. Now as it’s waterproof, a simple hold and wipe job isn’t going to work here. I use either baby wipes or the Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleansing Solution on a cotton pad – fold the wipe or pad in half and get your lashes inbetween, give a gentle rub and the mascara should start to come off. It just takes a bit of practice!

I have also tried L’oreals new formulation of this mascara the ‘False Lash Telescopic’ and it’s a non from me. It gives huge amounts of volume, but doesn’t hold a curl at all. The result was big voluminous lashes, drooping towards the floor. Not great, but see I always come back to the L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I might have to give this a go when my beloved Lash Blast Fusion runs out.

Looks like a great mascara. Im always on the hunt for one that i will repurchase religiously and i really love the soap and glory one that i got in the ELLE magazine and also the rimmel london day2night. But i might try this one too.

It does seem to hold your curl amazingly well. I’m terrified of waterproof mascaras, though, because I just don’t have a gentle enough hand at removing them and wind up balding my lashline… sigh. I’d love to get this fluttery look!

Amen! I bought this when I was out and needed mascara and didn’t have one on me, it’s like a step down in intensity from one of my faves, the Maybelline HyperCurl Cat Eyes mascara that you can’t get in the UK, so I was super glad to find it worked for me too! It’s a great daytime mascara :)

GAH, I love this mascara it is gorgeous and works well!

I bought this mascara a few months ago because you raved about it so much and I absolutely L.O.V.E it. Literally the only mascara that I’ve ever 100% loved. Intially I bought the waterproof one but my eyes are incredibly sensitive and removing it every night was seriously aggravating them and causing red, dry eyelids so I bought the non-waterproof, too! I agree that the waterproof one holds a curl much better, but my lashes aren’t particularly straight so I don’t mind the non-waterproof for day-to-day.

I will say, though, that I have incredibly long eyelashes and this mascara makes them look incredible – however, I have had friends with shorter lashes use it and the results aren’t really the same. I definitely think this is one for those of us that already have ridiculously long eyelashes because it just really create a lot of volume (which would look pretty silly on mine anyway!) So pleased I decided to try this.. I’ve used almost nothing else since I got it and will never look back xx

I might give this one a go. It’s subtle but has great volume, without the clumps. Looking good :)

I have recently purchased the telescopic false lash mascara and love it. However after reading your recommendation for this one, I may just give it a go!

P.s Your Blog design is awesome, love how you’ve got the separate links for each post on your home page. Great work! :)

Ah your lashes look awesome! I may have to try this, though I do already have two big favourites, Rimmel Volume Flash and Maybelline The Falsies!

  • Marissa Roberts

My absolute favourite is Max Factor Masterpiece (the chunky purple one!) It’s amazing and really stops your lashes from clumping!

Hi Anna! Thank you for the post. I just got the new telescopic ‘explosion’ in waterproof since I couldn’t find this format in the regular telescopic mascara. Trying it today and so far so good! I especially liked the pic you took after the 12 hour wear – that actually gave me an idea for a post suggestion. Could you record the “life spam” of your makeup during your work day? I am a young professional also and I struggle to keep my makeup fresh all day long regardless if I use primer or not. Any tips?

    Thank you so much!

I started buying it, after I saw you constantly raving about it, and I love it just as much! It’s truly the best mascara I ever had, and I have naturally long lashes, when I wear this they almost look like fake lashes. I love it!

  • Elle

I brought this on your recommendation about a month ago, and can’t seem to get on with it! It’s a nice enough mascara but dosnt hold the curl in my lashes & tends to clump them all together :( wish it made mine look like it Do’s yours!

I put off trying this for ages, I didn’t believe it would work on my stubborn half chinese eyelashes, but it worked a treat, i’ve tried so many mascaras, but this is the only one to hold a curl. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!x

  • Ayesha’s beauty room

I’m a sucker for a good mascara but I have never tried this one before. Your lashes look super long and curled so I must give it a go too!

I’m not a big fan of the waterproof one but the original Telescopic mascara is my all time favourite mascara. It makes my lashes incredibly long and it even goes as high as my brows at times and I’ve had trouble blinking due to how long it’s made my lashes!!

  • xroseypinkcheeks

really need to try this but unsure whether to get the waterproof or not, have you tried both?

please check out my blog xo

I bought this mascara because you always mention how good it is, I LOVE IT! It lasted me ages too, I ran out of it recently & whilst on Sasa I bought the Fairy Drops Platinum Waterproof mascara. It is AMAZING, very similar to the L’oreal telescopic waterproof, maybe even better. The wand is totally different but it really works well, you should try it out if you can! :) x

Your lashes look gorgeous! I always get the volume but never the curl. I’ve always been weary of waterproof mascaras but perhaps with your tip I can give it a whirl. :) x

  • anca.lb90

    I love
L’oreal Telescopic although I’ve never tried the waterproof formulation but it’s definitely something I’ll keep in mind for summer :). Thanks for the great tip.

This is my HG mascara…as well as Lancome Hypnose Waterproof masacara! I really think you should give lancome’s a try if you get the chance to, or fancy trying out a new mascara. I absolutely love it….i have the same requirements as you as my lashes and dead straight….no other mascara holds a curl on lashes apart from the l’oreal and the lancome. I think i do favour the lancome as it gives me a bit more volume…but obviously the price of the l’oreal is a bit less heartbreaking! x

Your lashes look gorgeous! I’ve always heard good things about this mascara! It’s a pity I can’t seem to find it over here anymore though.. xx

I love this mascara! Have tried all the high end mascaras e.g Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clarins, Benefit but this one is still the best!

I keep meaning to have a look at this after watching your videos but keep forgetting! Have you tried the Avon Supershock? I was a Max Factor girl but this has taken over it. I just blogged about it if you wanted to have a look. No worries if not xx

    Anna, Anna, Anna!

The sight of your eyelashes in this photograph left a slight green tinge to my skin.
I’m so jealous, and am now off to buy both the mascara and eyelash curlers.

I recently bought this mascara on your recommendation and I’m sooo glad I did cos I bloody love it!! I’ve never been a big mascara fan and actually would mostly use a clear lash gel cos I hated the way that other mascaras weighed down my lashes and just felt like my eyes were heavy and clogged up. But I thought I would give this one a go and you are totally right it is just the best thing ever and I’m totally converted :) A big thank you xxx

  • http://maryjanett.blogspot.com/ Mary Janett

After following your blog I decided to purchase this Mascara. Was I disappointed or miss lead? NO NO NO! Wow what a mascara. I loveeeee it!

I’d watch ur videos and think ‘She has naturally long eyelashes, it’s not the mascara that does it’
Proved me wrong, I have short eyelashes and mine are now long extended and beautiful!!

    Thankyou soooo much.
Keep up the good work, finding amazing products.

I’ve been using Telescopic for good 4-5 years when i was in university. I was really happy about it. But then decided to try out smth from luxe brands. And after couple of so-so buys, i’ve found the one…

My all time favorite is Dior Iconic. Believe me, if you love Telescopic, you will go crazy for this one!!! the brush is similar, so the lengthening effect is the same, but the thing i love about it, you can do both natural looking lashes and drama!!

  • Patricia

Yes, for me too! :) But unfortunaly the telescopic went out of the german market. On your opinion: What is the best alternative for the telescopic from L’Oreal, especially concerning the brush? Nowhere I found really good answers … Thx soo much in advance. Love ur videos! Patricia

  • whydoyouwantotknowmyname

I hear alot of people rave about this mascara all the time but I hate it.

I’ve tried to be nice to it and be like okay it transfers because you have oily eye lids , but I find if you don’t clean it within a minute of it transferring it will not come off. I’ve had six eye surgeries so I cannot tug at my eyes to get this off. I have spent ages to get most of it off but it can stay on for days whilest still giving me panda eyes which is an achievement. It feels like glue when I apply it my lashes and I would never repurchase it again.

It was 17.99 here and I just don’t think it is worth the price (that is about 16 pounds) the lancome hypnose range is only 34.50 for the two pack in my local boots so I think I would sooner get that than this ever again.

I understand it might just be the tube I got but I highly doubt it.

If you have any other recommendations please pass them on.

  • Sara

I cant find it anywhere. I love it but ive ran out and i need another asap…HELP ME PLEASE!!! Where can i find it in the UK?? Boots n superdrug dont sell it anymore :(

  • mymymagpie

‘good lash day’ made me smile!

  • ChrisAndyO

I know, to both our isappointment, that this mascara has now been discontinued. I have moved on to the Telescopic Carbon Black-version. I find it to be (almost) just as good and makes the evening routine a lot quicker. Have you tried it, Anna?
