I’ve slapped on and swatched my fair share of summer beauty launches this year and as always the steady stream of bronze, gold and peach has been keeping me happy. In the warmer months I revert back to my makeup comfort zone of sheeny textures in earthy tones – easy peasy – so it’s fair to say that the new releases that make an appearance on counter at this time of year are right up my street. But there’s one drop in particular that stands out from the rest, even just the name – swoon. It’s Bobbi Brown’s Surf & Sand collection.
Sure there’s the usual colour palettes of shimmering metallics and naturally enhancing hues, but it’s the little touches that push it over the line into a release of pure fabulousness: the hessian detailing on the eyeshadow palette, the fact that the new lip formula has just a smidge of glitter that makes things look fuller, an eyeliner that actually took days to eventually rub off my hand etc etc. It’s everything you could want in a summer collection.
Personal highlights for me include the Brightening Blush in Bronze; a bronzer/blush/trio that has a nice dash of red to it that really fakes that post-holiday glow. I’m feeling the Sheer Lip Colours too, particularly Peach Sorbet which does that whole ‘my lips but peachier’ thing. But of course it was going to be the Sand Eye Palette that really floated my boat. I mean – just look at it. Eight shades, some shimmer, some matte that have all possible holiday eye looks covered. There’s no fall-out, no dusty-ness and if you’re looking for an update in the neutral palette category (aren’t we always?) then this is your guy.
It’s on counter now ready to swatch or you can ‘surf’ for it here. Sorry Dad joke. I just had to.
