When it comes to weekend makeup, I’m a big believer in the whole ‘less is more’ thang. The odd beauty product that I haven’t had the balls to test during the week incase it all goes Pete Tong slips in, but on the whole I keep things simple. Like real simple. Mascara, eyeshadow, brow pencils, lipsticks – ain’t nobody got time for that (at the weekend). So here’s the makeup menu that I’ve been reaching for on my past two days of rest that somehow manage to polish me off into a slightly less tired and lacklustre version of myself (I’m currently suffering from Friends box set induced fatigue).

Things begin with the Soap & Glory Glow Job Sunkissed Morning Moisture Flash – think the This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle with a touch more tan and hydration. I throw it on with fingers or a brush when I fancy working it up a bit. Things are definitely far from perfect in the complexion arena though so then I whack out my NARS Creamy Concealer in Vanilla which works as little airbrusher; blending away blemishes, redness, bags etc etc. They need to bottle this up into a liquid foundation format pronto. It’s good stuff that tends to make an appearance in my rotation most days for the fact that it’s easy to apply, blend and it covers everything. Even my Rudolph-like red nose and that’s something.

Whenever a picture is taken of me sans mascara I always regret the decision not to sport it, but I do like to give my lashes some down time at the weekend and just give them a quick curl (Japonesque’s Power Lash Curlers FTW). Mostly due to the fact that then I don’t have to remove it in the evening. Score. Same goes for my brows – I give them a break. Even though one is visibly more sparse than the other, I roll with it and comb a little of The Body Shop’s Brow & Lash Gel through them. My one pop of colour comes courtesy of AERIN’s Multicolour Duo for Lip and Cheek. The highlighter shade gets a quick dip and slick over my cheeks if it’s lucky, but I’m more fond of the dusky pink cream which I use to add a bit of somthin’ somethin’ to my cheeks and lips – no brush required.

…then of course, some Sunday’s I just go completely barefaced if I’m in the mood for terrifying the general public and others I just hibernate and gorge on Friends. Those are my favourite kind of Sundays.

No makeup days feel so good after a week of full face makeup. All though I must admit I’m definitely one to experiment makeup wise when it comes to the weekend

I love being bare faced on weekends, I generally do the same as you, wearing only a few products just to avoide scared people on the street. But sometimes I like wearing no makeup at all!

I am a huge lover of Soap and Glory cosmetics, but I’ve never tried the ‘glow job’- it’s on my list! And the NARS creamy concealer is also something I want to give a shot at, but it’s so expensive :-( damn you NARS!

Its weird that on the weekend for you its ‘less is more’ whereas for me the weekend is the time for me to get slap everything onto my face!

    I love the brand Nars

I’m the same – the weekend is usually when I wear the least makeup (unless I’m going out in the evening, which is rare haha), as I wantto give my skin a break from wearing a full face every day during the week! I’ve heard so many good things about Nars’ concealer, must try it out at some point! (:

Ohh I really want that concealer. I’m also in the market for a new pair of eyelash curlers, these could be a contender.

  • Sheryll Renata

Sunday is definitely my no makeup day. I love having one day where I don’t have to do a long beauty routine, and then go through the long process of having to take it all off.

  • http://loveaugustblog.blogspot.com/ Stephanie @ Love, August

Even though I really love to kinda pile it on over the week, during the weekend I try to give my face a bit of a break and don’t usually wear any, though I can’t help but apply a lip product from time to time because I am just that addicted.

Doing your makeup full-out is fun, but sometimes a stripped down version is way, way more practical. I really want to try that NARS concealer…it sounds awesome!

  • Cassie

I love watching friends during the weekend! And I love not wearing too much makeup over the weekend too.

I always do a toned down look for the weekend as well, just a “perfect skin look”. I love the look of the Aerin lip and cheek duo. I might give that a go. Thanks for the post!
