With everything a little up in the air at the moment my usual beauty routine has taken a back seat. You just have to look at my chipped nails, unruly brows and slightly on the greasy-side locks to suss that one out (painting a ravishing picture of myself there, eh?). But with today being my first day in the new pad with absolutely nothing to do, I’ve christened it ‘Sort Yourself Out Woman’ evening. First stop, the face mask routine of all face mask routines – so good in fact I call it the ‘Triple Threat’ facial – three steps and your skin is left as smooth as a babies bottom, true say. Now I cannot take credit for this genius routine, it was in fact the brain child of the one and only Caroline Hirons; her blog is the only one I read when it comes to snippets of skincare secrets. It’s a pretty lengthy process, but definitely worth setting an hour aside, wallowing in the bath while you slather on the masks to wave hello to a new layer of skin…

Begin by giving skin a good cleanse then it’s time to detox. I have a few clarifying, clay-based masks on rotation but I’ve been reaching for the Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Mask the most. Slather on, either with fingers or an old foundation brush (which is what I like to use) and leave for the allocated time. This helps to remove any grime, oil or makeup that’s hanging around and gives the pores a good clear-out making the next step more effective. Dampen a muslin cloth then remove. Next-up, throw on something radiance-boosting. As a general rule, anything with ‘radiance’ in the product name, or containing fruit acids will do – my pick? The REN Glycolatic Radiance Renewal Mask ticks both of those boxes – looks like marmalade on the face, but feels tingly and leaves your skin super smooth. A whole weeks work of muslin cloth exfoliation ain’t got nothing on this mask! Dead skin sloughed away, once that mask’s removed it’s time to plough on some hydration. There’s only one product that does this for me, Origins Drink-up Intensive Mask (full review here). Peachy scented, gel-like overnight goodness for your skin. I tend to try and do this routine mid-afternoon, so by the time I’m ready to roll into bed the hydrating mask has had a few hours to skin in so I can give my skin a quick swipe of cleanser, then continue on with my usual evening routine as usual.

It’s worth pointing out that you can mix-up the routine depending on your skintype – I have normal to combination skin and this selection works well for me. But sensitive skins may want to miss out the radiance-boosting step or dry skins may want to cut out the detoxing and go a little heavier with the hydration. Ah even just writing about it is making me yearn to do it now – right I’m off. ‘Sort Yourself Out Woman’ evening has begun…

Dear Anna, I truly think you are great, however, as you are not a dermatologist, I would recommend you to be more careful when it comes to write about mixing treatments up as it might cause skin irritation, alergies or even worse. Xxxx

I really want to try the Origins drink up intensive mask :) It seems like a really great product to rehydrate dry skin. I have combination oily skin so i tend to have dry patches around my cheek area and no amount of moisturiser can budge that~ So maybe this product can help me a little bit. Thank you for sharing and I hope your settling in well into your new place :)

I literally want all the products you have mentioned here. I already have the Parsley Seed mask, 2 more to go!

  • Line

I was all in on all products until you wrote in the end that the routine probably didn’t suit sensitive and dry skin types, mine is both. Might get the origins Drink-up mask, I have been looking at it before, I might finally take the dive :) x

  • DanielleGallegos

I just moved recently as well & found myself in the same shape…unkempt brows, messy hair, etc. I’m still settling into my new place, but finally made myself do something similar to this. I love the REN & Origins masks, now I think that I’ll need to get my hands on the Aesop mask! I hope you’re settling in well, moving is always so chaotic.

  • Eliza

Great post Anna, I love the origins mask too.

This is why I love you so much Anna. I can always count on you to churn out the best most helpful blogposts. As soon as I managed to save up enough pennies to purchase all the skincare products above I would definitely give this triple threat facial routine a go :) Love you Anna.

Sounds like a great routine! I just tried a sample of the ren mask last night and liked it, but I’m not sure if it is worth buying just yet! I’ve fallen for the koh gen do brightening spa mask and ought to save my pennies for that!

  • Alexia Big

Hi Vivianna, I just wanted to know what do you think about the organic pharmacy products ? :)

    Thanks honey :)
