Urban Decay are releasing such a bevy of products into the beauty addicts arena at the moment that it’s difficult to know where to start. From new shades in their cult Lip Junkies Lipgloss line to lipstick/lipgloss hybrid pencils, brushes, another whoppin’ eyeshadow palette (aptly named ‘Smoked’ for the more daring eyeshadow lovers among us), reformulated primers and an interesting sounding Naked Skin foundation. Of course the minute anyone mentions a face base product my ears prick up, so expect to see my thoughts on that soon but here are the other releases that have caught my eye…
You guys know I’m a sucker for a good buffing brush. In fact I think I could quite happily trundle through the rest of my life with just the Real Techniques Buffing Brush on hand for all makeup applications. But before I make anymore crazy claims lets chat about the new Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush*. Made from synthetic, cruelty-free brush hairs, this round topped kabuki is designed with their Naked Skin Foundation in mind. The hairs are a little longer than the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and a tiny bit stiffer too – so I’ve found this to work best with cream bronzer. Quite surprisingly the other product that stands out to me is a primer. Released back into the market reformulated and repackaged are the mattifying and smoothing Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion and the Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion*. I’ve been giving the Brightening and Tightening version a go and I have to say I’ve surprised myself by reaching for it again every morning. Containing the latest ‘It’ ingredient Hyaluronic Acid it claims to boost collagen and smooth imperfections. The new tubes with a needle nose spout mean you don’t end up with too much in your hand and I’ve found a pea-sized amount blended all over my face with my fingers is leaving my skin looking nice and dewy, hydrated without being sticky at all and perhaps even helping my makeup cling on that little bit longer (although further hardcore testing is needed to verify that!). Hmm, could I be turning into a primer gal?
The Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush is £18.50 and the Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion is £19 both available now at all your usual Urban Decay haunts. Urban Decay is always a brand that intrigues me but I’m not always drawn to – however I’m always impressed when I give the products a go. And in this case the Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion gets a more than satisfied thumbs up from me. Will you be giving any of the new Urban Decay releases a go?
